Unarmed Defensive Tactics – Course Description (8 Hours)

The Unarmed Defensive Tactics Course (8 Hours) equips students with practical skills to protect themselves and others without the use of weapons. This course is designed for security officers, law enforcement personnel, and civilians who require effective, non-lethal defensive techniques for real-world situations.

Students will learn how to recognize, avoid, and de-escalate potential threats while also gaining hands-on experience in physical control techniques, defensive maneuvers, and restraint methods that comply with Texas laws and professional standards.

Course Highlights (8 Hours):

• Situational Awareness: Identifying and avoiding threats before they escalate.

• De-escalation Strategies: Verbal commands, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

• Defensive Stance & Movement: Basic positioning, balance, and movement drills.

• Control & Restraint Techniques: Escort holds, joint manipulation, and safe takedowns.

• Defensive Maneuvers: Blocking, escapes, and counter-techniques against grabs or strikes.

• Ground Defense Fundamentals: Escaping holds, maintaining control, and disengagement.

• Legal Considerations: Use of force continuum and Texas laws on reasonable force.

• Scenario Training: Practical drills simulating real-world encounters.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Must hold a valid Texas Driver’s License or State ID.

• Students should wear comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity.

• Protective training gear (pads, gloves, etc.) will be provided.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the 8-hour training, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Texas Elite Academy. This certificate demonstrates competency in unarmed defensive tactics and may be applied toward professional development requirements for security officers, law enforcement, or personal safety training.
