Private Investigation Basics – Course Description
The Private Investigation Basics Course introduces students to the fundamental knowledge, skills, and legal framework required to work as a professional investigator in Texas. This course is designed for individuals entering the private investigations field or those seeking a strong foundation before pursuing a company license or manager-level position.
Students will learn investigative methods, legal limitations, ethical standards, and practical skills used in surveillance, background checks, and evidence collection. The program emphasizes compliance with the Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1702 (Private Security Act), and Department of Public Safety – Regulatory Services Division (DPS/RSD) requirements.

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License or State ID.

Some investigative tools may be provided; students are encouraged to bring laptops or tablets for research exercises.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Texas Elite Academy. This certificate demonstrates training in investigative fundamentals and may be used to strengthen applications for employment with licensed investigations companies or to prepare for further advanced training and licensing.
