Texas Personal Protection Officer (PPO) Level IV – Course Description
The Texas Personal Protection Officer (PPO) Level IV Course provides the advanced state-required training for commissioned security officers who wish to work in executive/dignitary protection. This course prepares students to perform protective services for clients in both private and corporate environments, focusing on advanced security strategies, close protection techniques, and legal responsibilities.
Students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out protective assignments while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.

Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years old.

Must hold a valid Texas Commissioned Security Officer License (Level III).

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License or State ID.

Must provide a duty handgun (9mm or .38 caliber minimum), 50 rounds of ammunition, and required safety gear (eye and ear protection).

Completion of DPS/RSD application, background check, and fingerprinting required for state licensing.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course and firearms proficiency qualification, students will receive a Certificate of Completion (Form PSB-30). This certificate is required to apply with the Texas Department of Public Safety – Regulatory Services Division (DPS/RSD) for a Personal Protection Officer (Level IV) License.
